ABLE ~ Adventure Bound Leadership Experience
For those looking to become counselors and guides for Adventure Bound we offer a leadership program. This is offered to the campers ages 14 to17. The ABLE program takes a hands on, problem-oriented approach. This problem-oriented approach to learning can be useful in developing each individual’s awareness of decision-making, leadership, and the obligations and strengths within a group. Participants engage the problem in groups to take advantage of the combined physical and mental strengths of a team. The ABLE program will offer the participant an opportunity to push their mental and physical limits against perceived risks in an atmosphere of support and caring. We will work to familiarize participants with the equipment and safety procedures involved so they in turn can teach these skills. This experiential method works because the problems are tangible, the consequences real and immediate, and participants gain a thorough understanding of themselves, their peers, and what it takes to be successful in their futures.
Adventure Bound Summer Camp Service Projects
Adventure Bound Summer Camp believes it is important to give back and take care of our environment along with everything that lives in it. The service project program is built into each camp session. Projects may consist of, but are not limited to, helping build, maintain, and clean up trails while at Baxter State Park or Acadia National Park. This will help foster a sense of pride for a job well done, and show the tangible connections we share with society and the natural world. For those needing to meet service project credits for school this is a perfect opportunity to fulfill them. Please let us know in advance if an official letter of service project completion is need. |
